Music Mia Bella violin studio

Hi! Do you or your child want to play the violin? I’m here to help you find your inner violinist, your inner musician.

My name is Mia Bella, and I work with students of all ages at my home teaching studio in Standish. I’ll meet you where you are today, and together we’ll discover your spark of excitement with music, creating a personalized framework to reach musical goals through exploration of technique and self-expression.

Philosophy

Music Mia Bella means “my beautiful music.”  I have a passion for what music can be for everyone who makes a place in their life for it. Learning an instrument is an incredible way to take time for your creative spark and connect with others.

There is no one size fits all method for learning the violin. I’m certified in the Suzuki Method and use it as a jumping off point for instruction. The grounding element is the belief that we are not born with talent but rather develop it within a nurturing, immersive environment.

As a teacher, my hope is that each of my students learns to listen to sound deeply. Playing music uses both sides of the brain simultaneously, since musicians sense details as well as the whole of a piece of music at the same time.

Music is an adventure like no other, a way to express yourself through finding your sound. It builds confidence and perseverance, teaches problem solving, creates awareness of body and mind, and supports positive  mental health.

Lessons

I’ll work with you to create a unique path forward within my studio community. Monthly tuition includes weekly private lessons, monthly small group lessons starting in spring 2024, and seasonal performances. Through this combination, musical growth will never feel like a solitary endeavor.

Group experiences are an integral part of music and are required for youth. Adult students may opt out as needed, although I suggest and support chamber music no matter what level you are at today.

For families, I require that an accompanying adult is involved in observing every lesson and fills a big helping role by taking notes and providing support for at-home practice. This is for any young student until about the teenage years and depends on many factors.

Lessons include a variety of songs, tone and technique exercises, ear training, music theory, and improvisation, all contributing to an organic growth of musicianship, musical excitement, and exploration.
